2. In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Add New and click Upload Plugin.

4. Once the plugin is installed, click Activate.

Basic settings will be applied automatically. You can further play with its settings to improve the functionality.

How to create your first WooCommerce Memberships Plan?

WooCommerce Memberships is one of the most simplistic tool to sell your member only contents and to start selling memberships on your woocommerce store, first you need to create one membership product and second you need to tie a membership plan when some one buys a membership product. Here we will try to learn how to create first membership plan using woocommerce membership plugin in step by step visual guide.

To create your first membership plan, first istall and activate two plugins which are mandatory. One is woocommerce and another in WooCommerce Memberships.

After completing these step go to WooCommerce > Memberships > Membership Plans, and then click “Add Membership Plan”. This is the screen where you will be creating your first woocommerce memberships plan. Also it will display all membership plans you currently have in a list like Posts list which you may be very familiar with.

We need to create Different Membership Plans so click on Membership Plans tab. By this we get  add Membership Plans  to create different types of membership which you provide to members.

After click on Add Membership Plan. This will take you to membership plan creating page which will give you host of options under various headings like General, Restriction and discounts.

First step here would be to give appropriate name to your membership plan. Here we have given Silver Membership plan but you can define your own based on your website requirement. Than comes the tricky and somewhat complicated task to define your membership in terms of various restrictions.

First in General tab :-

1. you give slug name to your plan (Like Regular, Silver, Gold, Platinum etc.) ,if it already done then skip the “slug” field. it should be remain forever  or expired.
2. Second option is where you will have to define which product one needs to purchase to get benefits of your current plan. This will require a simple product in your WooCommerce. You can just type title and you will get list products matching title here. Select appropriate product.
3. In membership length set as per your requirements . ( Like Unlimited,  Day/s,  week/s , Month/s , Year/s) usually memberships are for 1 month but your requirements may be different and you can choose anything from days to weeks to years.

Next , In the Restrict Content tab:-

Here you need to define, what exactly you want to restrict. This mainly important because, only members will be allowed to see those content and setting this appropriately is very important in WooCommerce Memberships settings. This screen is mainly divided in three different headings Types, Title and Accessible. You can simply click add new rule and define settings under these three headings.

1. In Types, you can restrict any kind content starting from pages, posts, taxonomies or custom post types
2. In title heading you will restrict all contents of this type then leave blank this box otherwise you restrict some post or pages then search for them and select them.
3. In Accessible heading you find two option, one is immediately and second one is specify a time (Like day(s), week(s), Month(s), year(s)). You can set as per your  criteria . Immediately will give access to content as soon as membership plan is purchased by buyers. Optionally you can define specific time but immediately is usually preferred option.

After this next step is Restrict Products tab :-

1. This is almost like restrict content but here you will be able to restrict products or product categories.
2. Select the type to restrict. (Like individual Products / Products Categories ).
3. Select Product or Product Categories name which you want to restrict.
4. Select if Only Member Can view or purchase. If you select only members can view, your products will be visible to members only. That means one required to be member to see the product. But if you set members only purchase. Non members can view the product but will not see Add to cart button and instead will get a message that they need to be member to buy the product.
5. Then in Accessible heading you find two option, one is immediately and second one is specify a time (Like day(s), week(s), Month(s), year(s)). You can set as per your  criteria . The above procedure you can repeat on other products by click on Add New Rule button.

Last step of  Membership Plan is Purchasing Discount :-

Once you restrict your Product, If you want to give discount to your members , here is where you can define rules. This is one of the most useful feature of WooCommerce Memberships. (click Purchasing Discount> Add New Discount)

• Select the type of discount you want to give like individual Products / Products Categories.
• Select Product or Product Categories name which you want to give discount.
• Select type of discount in. ( Percentage / Dollar ) and discount amount which you offer on Product.

Then in Active heading you select it means the purchasing discounts is accessible to member for this product or product Categories. You can set as per your  criteria . The above procedure you can repeat on other products by click on Add New Discount button.

After this Procedure you can ready with your first Membership Plan, save and publish it.

So now you are all set with your first membership plan and now you need to create/define woocommerce product which when purchased will give access to benefits of current membership plan you have created. We will be learning how to create your memberships product in our next tutorial.

How to create your memberships product ?

In Woocommerce Memberships Extension you create different type of memberships but which can use when you define membership product and it tie with a membership plan when customer buy a membership product.

We need to create memberships product first we click on Product and then click on add product tab now.

Give appropriate name your product. (Like Regular, Silver, Gold, Platinum etc.) and given description of product in description box.

In Product Data dialog box select type of product (Simple, Variable, Grouped etc.) If you select simple product.

after this in General tab –

you give slug name to your product (Like Regular, Silver, Gold, Platinum etc.) ,if it already done then skip the “slug” field.
Then other option is Regular Price and Sell Price set by we in dollar. ( Sell price never higher than Regular price.) other field fill by our criteria.

In Product Data dialog box select type of product (Simple, Variable, Grouped etc.) If you select variable product.
